An oil rig explosion took place within the Gulf Coast on a rig. Nobody died when a single person was injured. The reason for the blast isn’t yet known. On the coast of Louisiana, near Vermillion Bay, the blast took place. . Shallow waters contain the Vermillion rig as opposed to the Gulf Coast oil rig that was in deep water.
Oil rig explosion injures one
The oil rig explosion had reports of only one injured. Only a single person was hurt. First, the drilling rig exploded. As that was happening, 13 individuals went overboard. The brand new York Times reports the Coast Guard got more than one report of an oil rig surge after 9 a.m.. Helicopters and Coast Guard vessels made their way to the place. It was an hour before they arrived. The Coast Guard rescued 13 workers. All of them were accounted for. Since the Deepwater gas platform surge killed 11, it is surprising that only one person was injured.

The Vermillion Oil Rig 380 wasn’t drilling nearly as deep as the Deepwater Horizon oil rig was. You will find only 340 feet of water beneath the Vermillion oil rig. It is also only about 100 miles off the coast of Louisiana. 9.2 million cubic feet of natural gas and 1,400 barrels of oil were coming out of the rig, says CNN. Getting the fire out is the first thing the Coast Guard hopes to do. This is the first priority. Mariner Energy dropped 5 percent in shares right after the explosion hit.
Numerous concerned about drilling offshore
For years there has been an offshore drilling debate. Everyone receives worried when an oil rig explodes. They worry that you will find too numerous environmental risks with the danger also there. Though Bp has stepped up to the plate to take responsibility for the oil spill, resource extraction businesses rarely clean up their own messes, and working class often get stuck with an additional Superfund site.
