There is little if anything real about reality television. We are sophisticated enough to understand stand this. A good rule of thumb is that anything you see on television – including world news, sitcoms, religious programming, weather forecasts and reality shows like “American Idol” – is of questionable authenticity when it comes to the truth department. It’s all entertainment that some corporate sponsor has its claws sunk deep into. Yes, even churches are corporations. For some reason, they have been able to foist their influence on society without the mild trade off of having to pay taxes -  I say they start paying up to help us get out of this recession. Get up with it, religious types. payday loans in Indiana and unsecured loans will help.

But let’s focus on the unreal nature of television for a second. There are interests at work who dictate what we say, it’s all edited and too little of what’s on is of any intellectual value. A little entertainment is fine, but a little can go a long way.

Alexis Cohen’s act… went a long way

She was “Glitter Girl” on “American Idol.” Alexis Cohen made season 8 and season 7 auditions. Not skilled enough to advance to the Hollywood round, but twice one of the highlights of the audition round, with her… stylized… singing and crass, abrasive attitude, particularly toward show judge Simon Cowell. Was it an act? To a certain extent, I believe it was. I believe Alexis Cohen knew the show was her 15 minutes, and she made it in twice (or the producers let her through to the judges twice for the juicy factor). Sadly, what she’ll be remembered for most is her post-Idol death, the “American Idol” hit and run. Glitter Girl, “American Idol” contestant dies, and the world wonders what might have been. She was 25 years old.

Gil Kaufman reports for MTV News that police have arrested a 23-year-old Daniel Bark of New Jersey in conjunction with the hit-and-run death of Alexis Cohen. Local newspaper The Asbury Park Journal reports that Bark has been charged with causing Cohen’s death via reckless driving, as well as fleeing the scene of the crash. If convicted in the death, Bark could serve 10 to 15 years of jail time.

Cohen was struck in the early morning hours in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Two passerby discovered her body at about 5 a.m. that morning, 350 yards away from her vehicle that was in a parking lot. As it turns out, they reported her death to 911. She was officially pronounced dead two hours later at Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey. According to the autopsy findings, the Alexis Cohen death was the result of chest, head and abdominal injuries. Police have been unable to determine whether or not Cohen was walking back to her car when she was struck by Daniel Bark’s vehicle.

Glitter Girl? Green Goblin? No. Alexis.

The Alexis Cohen death will not be the only thing she’s remembered for. Glitter Girl was a fan favorite because of her clashes with the recalcitrant Simon Cowell.  In a fit of pop culture flailing, Cowell dubbed Alexis Cohen the “Green Goblin” after her “high-energy” auditions. Perhaps Simon doesn’t understand that the Green Goblin of “Spider Man” comic books has super strength, explosive pumpkins and a jet glider. She could have chased Cowell down and subjected him to a very Norman Osborn-like treatment, and Simon could do little or nothing to stop it, as he’s hardly Spider Man.

But the reality is that Alexis Cohen was a young woman with high aspirations. She shot for the moon and fell among the stars. My condolences go to family members and friends affected by the Alexis Cohen death. Alexis shared an apartment with her mother, and mom may need help with the rent now. If she only needs that help short term, payday loans in Indiana and unsecured loans may be able to help. I encourage her – or anyone else who needs quick cash – to considering applying for cheap loans today, right here!
